zoom zoom, we’re tired of it too. Here are some tips to help you make the worst of your zoom class workout

How do I join the zoom class? Do I need a zoom account?

For most studios, no, you won’t need to have a zoom account to join, although when you sign in you’ll need to edit your name so that the studio / teacher knows that you’re there. To do so, click on the ellipsis in the top right of your image, select “rename,” and enter your first and last name so we are easily able to identify you in class.

Do I have to turn my camera on? How do I turn my camera on or off?

Only if you’re comfortable! Most teachers won’t require you to turn your camera on, but they do always love when they can see you do the workout. This also allows them to help correct your form, encourage you to keep going and helps to build a sense of community within the class.

To turn your camera on or off, click the video icon in the controls menu (if using the Zoom Desktop app, it will be located at the bottom of your screen).

I’m having trouble hearing my instructor, what do I do?

When you join the zoom you’ll be prompted to either join the audio via your device’s audio or to join by phone. If you’re having trouble hearing your instructor, ensure that you’ve correctly joined the audio using either option and that the volume on your device is not muted.

If you’re still having trouble, use the chat box feature to ask your fellow classmates if they’re having trouble as well. Or just to say whats up, it’s good for that, too.

There are a lot of people in my class, how do I keep the instructor’s video up?

Once in the class, you can toggle between gallery view (see your classmates!) and speaker view in the top right corner of your screen. Select “pin the instructor” while in speaker view to keep them front and center.

Can the other classmates hear me?

Once you’re admitted into the class you’ll be automatically set to mute. Please keep yourself this way for the duration of the class, but feel free to unmute yourself at the end to give a final thanks to your instructor for the workout!

It says that the class is being recorded, will I be on video?

Likely not, no. If a zoom meeting is set to record it will record anyone who is speaking. So if you’d prefer to not be on video, keep yourself on mute the entire time the class says that it’s being recorded. If you have further concerns, reach out to the studio where you’re taking the class from.
