There’s a reason that Tracy Anderson is highly regarded as being one of the hardest workouts you can do, and after one session you’ll understand it for yourself. The TA method, which involves dance cardio and fine toning, is meant to give you strong, lean muscles. Using only your body weight, the instructors guide you through an assortment of high rep exercises, while also concentrating on your minds journey during the process. The instructors and music work in perfect harmony for a workout that is both difficult enough to be sore the next day, but therapeutic enough to keep you coming back.
Tracy's platform has evolved and now offers live intermediate, advanced and multitask classes from her LA and NY studios. You can choose to do a live class at any point throughout the week since the routine is still the same as the on-demand streaming service. If you need a change from her on-demand music, we highly suggest you take a live class.
Average Class Difficulty
8.3Beginner
These classes are intended for beginners. You will learn technique and build strength. If at any point you feel confused, watch the guided trainer videos that show you each move during the session. These classes are typically 30 to 40 minutes.
Intermediate
These videos are designed for those with experience and knowledge of the method. It is all about form, angles and mastering the lower body sequences during these videos. You can choose to do the movements with or without light weights, although weights should be incorporated once you get it down. Tracy will build on your strength for weight transfer support and prepare your muscular structure for her most advanced classes.
Advanced
10 classYou are ready for the angles and choreography. Typically this classes movements are faster than intermediate and often require props such as a chair or broom. You will build the bridge of your mind-body connection, and learn the integrated sequences that will help you achieve the body you desire.
Dance Cardio - Low Impact
Low Impact cardio is perfect if you’re just starting out or if you are looking for a class filled with fun, dance routines, burning calories every step of the way. Warning, if you are not super coordinated, it's not the easiest to follow, but we would suggest to just move and have fun! You can combine these videos with the beginner, intermediate and advanced method classes.
The Facts
THE TENY TIP
A unique, effective method to dance cardio and fine toning with a cult following. Give it more than one try and you will understand why everyone loves Tracy. If you're intimidated by the idea of starting TA, don't be! There is a library of fundamentals (called fundamenTAls - see what they did there!) that teach you the moves and set you up for success.
WHO IT'S GOOD FOR
While anyone can do this class if they’re up for the challenge, it’s best for someone with an intermediate to advanced fitness level, as the class moves quickly and the moves are often complex and layered. However, you can start with the beginner program and start from the beginning.
PRICE
$90.00 / month after a 14 day free trial for first time students. They also offer discounts for paying for a semi-annual (12% off) or annual (25% off) membership.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED
Classes usually require 1.5lb and 3lb ankle weights, mat and 3lb hand weights for the arm portion (& sometimes mat).
SOMETHING YOU SHOULD KNOW
We highly suggest doing Tracy Anderson more than one time. The movements can be awkward at first and unlike many other workouts, the instructors don’t talk during class. Give it a chance and you will be hooked!
The advanced routines occasionally involve props such as a chair and broom and you can walk away from your screen asking yourself “what on earth just happened?”.
